Our Other Pets
Some of the other Hemlock crew!
"Louie"
Louie has to be one of my favourites I have to say. He is 3/4 Oriental and 1/4 Bengal and has the length and height of a particularly large oriental and the bulk of a Bengal and he is a beautiful blue caramel tabby. He also has stunning bright green eyes which all our visitors comment upon. Despite his size, and it is difficult to judge from the photos, but believe me he is a BIG boy!, he is such a big softie and has a really pathetic miaow totally unlike the normal vocal skills of an Oriental and he has a really sweet and gentle nature with all the other cats and the dogs.
"Bitty"
Bitty is an adorable black and white 1/2 moggy, 1/2 Siamese and she is quite a character. She has the smooth flat shiny coat and elegant limbs and tail of a Siamese and the black and white coat she inherited from her dad! Other than that, her voice and personality err more towards the Siamese . More then anything else, Bitty loves to have her belly tickled and will roll onto her back as soon as she is approached to facilitate this!
"Sherman"
Sherman is my rather portly silver spotted Bengal neuter. Sherman is a super friendly boy who will hang onto your legs if you haven't given him enough attention. He is a Bengal I bred myself a couple of years ago and kept back as a pet because yet again...we couldn't bear to part with him! He is a big cuddly boy and does have a look of "bagpuss" around his lovely jowly face!

The dogs
"Sky" and "Mickey" are our two dogs. Sky is a beautiful blue merle Border Collie and Mickey, well he was a rescue and we think he is part Jack Russell and part Chihuahua. Sky is diabetic and has to have an insulin injection twice a day but doesn't let this hamper her from hurtling around with Mickey and generally letting everyone know she is around. Unfortunately her diabetes has led to her loss of sight, however she knows her way around our home and 3 acres like the back of her paw and only occasionally bumps into something when we leave it inadvertently somewhere different!! She still loves to retrieve a ball and listens out for where it lands before she charges after it!
Mickey came home with my daughter one day after her offering to take him on (very kind of her don't you think!)while she was helping out on a local farm. Although loved in his former home, he was just to friendly for a farm dog and was too "into every thing" for his own good, getting under the cows feet and unfortunately having a run in with a tractor one day which has left him with quite a scar on his back leg. Although he never made a peep for the first three weeks after he arrived, he soon found his feet and his voice and since then we always know he's around!
Both Sky and Mickey get on great with the cats (and the ducks and chickens) and are used to the cats kissing them, wandering in and out of their legs and playing with them and they are both very gentle and tolerant (!) with all of our kittens.
